Vocal Training and Its Gesture
Speech technique with Márta Kelemen & Michael Chekhov Acting Technique® with Levente Turóczi. 13-14 February 2027. Two-day intensive course on natural breathing, voice production, and the atmosphere-generating power of sound.

Quotes on Speech and Voice
"Speech as 'embodied gesture' is the highest of all... Speech that is not embodied gesture is as if it did not stand on solid ground."
"The paradox is that actors must train their voice so that they can sacrifice it. The actor's voice must learn to dissolve into the impulse of thought and feeling."

Detailed Course Syllabus & Programme
Two Complementary Pillars of the Two-Day Intensive
The course is built upon two organically connected pillars: the voice and speech workshop based on anatomical and phoniatric principles with Márta Kelemen, and the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique® with Levente Turóczi.
The Voice as Gesture Module
Participants discover and experience the harmony of the threefold unity of the body: thinking, feeling, and willing:
- the atmosphere-generating power of voice
- gestures associated with individual sounds
- archetypal sounds of psychological gestures
- the character-shaping power of voice through perception and radiation
All explored through the exercises of the Michael Chekhov technique (e.g. Joerg Andrees, David Zinder, Christiane Goerner, Sarah Kane), working individually, in pairs, and as an ensemble.
Speech Technique & Voice Training Module
Participants discover their natural breathing, voice production, and articulation in order to command their vocal instrument in accordance with stage presence and dramatic situation.
Rhythm, breathing, vocal, and articulation exercises activate and develop individual, partner, and ensemble work:
- the whole body,
- the entire creative personality,
- and all faculties involved in human vocal production and speech creation,
used in theatrical performance or in daily professional life.
The exercises are drawn from Hungarian and international methods (including Linklater, Voice Gym, Alexander, Montágh, and Fischer).

About the Training
The Michael Chekhov Acting Technique® equips the actor with practical tools that lead directly to the genuine expression of their personal creativity and artistic capabilities.
It simultaneously develops conscious presence, creative will, and refined sensitivity.
This process activates both familiar and latent capacities in the performer, taking them beyond their habitual limitations into a state of total ease and naturalness. Its impact is immediate.
The actor learns to trust their own inspiration and capabilities, approaching everyone as a free creative artist.
One of its primary tools is imagination – awakening the imaginative faculty and creating living atmosphere. The actor can use an imaginary body or psychological gesture to build and inhabit a character, discovering its movement, speech, inner feelings, and the world in which the character exists.

Participant Feedback
"All-encompassing expertise combined with a safe, supportive atmosphere. I was enriched with experiences and insights that are truly unique and special."

"You know that feeling after trying a new kind of movement: 'Wait, I have a muscle there too?' After a Chekhov course, that was exactly how I marveled at my mental muscles. Sometimes the realization hit in the moment, sometimes as a delayed effect in an ordinary everyday situation. It is a fantastic sensation to experience myself and my surroundings differently."

"During the workshop you receive something intangible that liberates you, no matter which ring of the tree of life you happen to be on—at the base, at the top, or right in the middle. You tire physically, but you become liberated mentally. From outside, from the infinite space of the universe, you draw in liberating energies, and once you have settled them inside yourself, you add a little of your own essence and open out toward the world around you."

"Why do I recommend it? Because you cannot imagine in advance what you will receive here. And when you finally do, you feel you have been enriched by something extraordinary, something entirely new. You do not leave a training as the same person you were when you arrived, which I find truly exciting."
