Dance and Its Gesture
Dance as non-verbal language & Michael Chekhov Acting Technique®. Past intensive workshop with Erika Vasas and Levente Turóczi (28 February – 1 March 2026 • Past event).

Quotes on Movement and Gesture
"The soul desires to dwell with its body, because without it it can neither act nor feel."
"With minimal, purified forms of expression, one can generate the greatest tensions. Naturally used gestures convey our true essence through a universal statement."
"The power of the movement stirs our will power; the kind of movement awakens in us a corresponding definite desire; and the quality of the same movement calls forth our feelings."

Dance and Its Gesture
Dance as non-verbal language with Erika Vasas
Michael Chekhov Acting Technique® with Levente Turóczi
Dance as Gesture Module Syllabus
Within the harmonious threefold unity of the body: thinking, feeling, and willing, participants will create and experience:
- the atmosphere-creating power of movement as dance
- gestures associated with individual movements
- archetypal movements of gestures
- the character-shaping power of movement through perception and radiation
All explored through the exercises of the Michael Chekhov technique (e.g. Joerg Andrees, David Zinder, Christiane Goerner, Sarah Kane, Anna-Katharina Andrees), individually, in pairs, and as an ensemble.
Dance as Non-Verbal Language Module Syllabus
The course explores the expressive power of movements and the technical craft behind their execution through the visual language of dance art.
It sheds light on everyday and stage-quality forms of physical communication, offering insight into how meaning can be articulated through the vocabulary of movement.
Participants gain firsthand experience in the world of contemporary dance, expanding beyond aesthetic movement forms to master wordless communication tools.

Well, here is something I have never done before - Judit Hosszú, Pilates instructor - pilatesinspiracio.hu
Well, here is something I have never done before. ...all right, I never say never. Let me explain.
This is for you if:
1. You have never enjoyed dancing in your entire life and want to find out what all the dancing crowd is raving about.
2. You have ever in your life enjoyed dancing.
a., Maybe you had a single 20-minute taste of it 15 years ago.
b., Maybe you have spent over 20,000 hours on a ballet mat, enjoying who knows how much of it, but you are a professional devotee (in short: a pro dancer).
c., Anything between a and b.
This programme is truly extraordinary.
Because there is simply nothing like this on the workshop palette. There are high-level masterclasses taught for dancers. There are classes taught for amateurs by enthusiastic, dedicated teachers with far more skill. But crossing over almost never happens. Neither among the students, nor between the trainers. Here Erika Vasas is the guest master.... If you know Pál Frenák's company, I need say no more. If you don't, trust me: it is top tier.
And now everyone who is not a professional dancer is wondering what on earth they would bumble through across these two days.
Let me tell you.
What makes this so compelling is that she is 'only' the guest teacher. The head of the Chekhov Workshop is Levente Turóczi. I won't list his qualifications—just click once if you appreciate the wide canvas and want to see a thrilling combination. I attended two of his events this autumn (Voice, gesture). The day he guides is not memorable merely because of how expertly he commands his tools (he obviously does, but many people have skill). No. It is the way he creates a state with random participants—from high schoolers to retirees—that you normally only experience during professional stage work. Not with a whip. He does it through something else entirely. In that state you gain insights you can never find elsewhere. Safely, free of expectations, in full acceptance and appreciation. (If you are an amateur, you might assume this is only for you. You are mistaken! For a professional, this is like a blood transfusion... rarely encountered, yet profoundly inspiring...) However far or close you stand to the stage, you walk away with building blocks for who you are. You receive answers directly to your deepest questions. Truly wondrous. That is why I want you to know about these two days. I don't know whether the stars and schedules of these two people will ever align like this again.

About the Training
The Michael Chekhov Acting Technique® equips the actor with practical tools that lead directly to the genuine expression of their personal capabilities and unique creativity.
It simultaneously develops conscious presence, creative will, and refined perception.
This process activates every known and latent capacity of the actor, taking them beyond their habitual limitations into a state of total ease and naturalness. Its impact is immediately felt.
The actor learns to trust their own inspiration and capabilities, approaching everyone as a free creative artist.
One of its primary tools is imagination—awakening the imaginative faculty and creating living atmosphere. The actor can use an imaginary body or psychological gesture to build and inhabit their character, discovering its movement, speech, inner feelings, and the world in which the character exists.
